"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 READY OR NOT HERE I COME!"

the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed.”
I Thess 5:2
“you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”
The other night I was washing dishes and the girls were
playing hide and go seek in the house. Granted it is a small house and
there are not very many places to hide so the rounds go pretty fast.
Nevertheless, they were having a great time, but the words, "Ready or Not
Here I Come!" rang through my mind over and over. Now these are
words that I had heard since I was a kid, but tonight they had new meaning.
I heard them as if Jesus were saying them to me. I don’t mean to be morbid. Perhaps that
was because I had tempted death with the car accident a few weeks ago, or maybe
it was that I have been looking a lot at hope and heaven with the studying I am
doing to prepare for Camp, but as those words rang through my head, I knew in
my mind and my heart that I am ready for Jesus to come. On a certain level, I want Jesus to
come. In my brain I need Jesus to
return. But if I am being really honest,
there lies a small part of my heart that probably does not want Jesus to return
RIGHT NOW. Why? I do have visions of seeing the girls
graduate High School, see what they do in college, I yearn to walk them down
the aisle at their wedding, feeling the water around my waist when they are
baptized. I mean I want Jesus to come,
but when I am ready for him to come.
These two passages tell us that no one knows when Jesus will return and
we will all be surprised by when it will happen.
The bottom line is that I want what I want, BUT I am praying
for the desires of my heart to be what God wants.
I do know that when Jesus comes, it will be the right time.
Jesus will say, "Ready or Not Here I Come!" What a day that will be!

WERE YOU MOVED?

I couldn’t help but be moved by Sunday's mission presentation. My
heart broke for the young people who are left to fend for themselves on
the streets because their parents can’t afford ot feed them?
Teens the same age as you in The Zone Student Ministry. Teens
left to find their own meals. Teens left to find their own
shelter. Teens forced to grow up before they ought to.
So when we started to give towards a swingset for the mission trip last
December, I was excited to be a part of a mission trip that I couldn’t
go on, but I could still be a part of it in some small way.
You may think that a playground is not that big of a deal, but it
is. This is the first free playground in the area. Here is
a REFUGE for teens and families to come and let their kids play and be
kids. Here is a palce where a child who may be too poor to have
any toys can swing, climb and crawl and enjoy life for a little while.
Tears came to my eyes when I heard that the members of the team had to TEACH
the Kenyans how to swing and use the equpiment. Why was I
moved? It seems like those are things that we have always known
how to do, and here are 15-20 year old people who don’t know how to
swing that have to learn. What a great opportunity to see someone
experience that for the first time in their life!
The work that God is doing with the Made in the Streets Ministry is
HUGE! Can you imagine helping homeless pre-teen and teens have a
home, learn sellable skills, and begin a life on their own?
What an amazing ministry to be a part of! I am so thankful that we are a part of this HUGE work as a congregation.
OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL Student
Ministry is going to be taking a collection during the Junior High and
High School Bible classes, The Edge and Cross Training to go towards
the work of Made in the Streets. We are challenging each and every member of The Zone Student Ministry to donate and give at least $10 towards this effort.
You can save some of your allowance, babysitting money or
paycheck. You might want to do some extra chores around the
house. You might just go without Starbucks or Taco Bell for the
month of April and donate what you would have spent towards this.
If everyone in Student Minstry donated at least $10 we would rasie over
$1000 for Made in the Streets! Can you imagine what God could do
with $1000! That would be truly awesome! Help make a
difference in an important part of the world.

Many of you have had the opportunity to be blessed by camp at Daybreak,
whether it be Adventure Camp, Wildside, FDC or Labor Day Youth Rally, many of
you have fond memories of God doing

Daybreak. Now you have an opportunity to give back to Daybreak through a
day of service projects. We are going to serve there all day doing various
projects and the famous camp cook, Becky Cahoon is going to cook lunch for
you so you know you are going to eat

PARENT RESOURCE: "Queen Bees and Wannabes"

"Queen Bees and Wanna Bees" by Rosalind Wiseman
available at the Member Services Table. Parents of
Pre-Adolescent and Adolescent Girls need to read this book about adolescent life
for girls. This gives you an inside look at the world of today's girls and
gives you a tremendous amount of powerful information to help your student
navigate the teen years. You can pick up your copy at the Member Services Table
or from Peggy Cross in the office for $11.
REVIEW EXCERPT:
This is a truly remarkable book, extremely well-organized,
inspirational, and full of real practical advice. Wiseman first details
the different social roles girls play in adolescent 'societey' - what
she calls "Girl World" - such as the Queen Bee, the Banker, the Target.
Then she describes the different kind of social dilemmas these roles
can cause. But - most importantly -she tells readers (presumably
parents) WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.
This is not just proscriptive advice,
although there is a lot of that too (e.g., "how to tell if she's had a
party while you were away"). One thing that really impressed me about
Wiseman's approach is that she gives parents an entire way of
approaching problems that they can share with their daughters.
In
other words, she doesn't tell you what your rules should be (she leaves
that to YOU, thank goodness), but she does tell you how to get your
daughter to think about why you as a parent have created them and your
family's values should mean to her.
