I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who helped out at the Festival of Light Food Booths.  You guys did a GREAT job!  You stayed in top of your task and minstered to so many of the visitiors and guests that were a part of this year's Festival.  You really showed Jesus as you served without complaining.  I saw so many different visitors from the community and the school so your witness and example was a great testimony to what Jesus is doing in your life.

If you want to send me YOUR PHOTOS from Festival CLICK HERE and send them to me as an attachment and I will add them to this photo album.

Have a great and SAFE Halloween.

View Article  Gospel for Asia

When you put money into the basket each week at Bible Class, you are helping to support a missionary through Gospel for Asia.  This is one way you are helping to change the world.  This is one of the ways you are helping to spread the news of Jesus to other people.  This is one way YOU are making a difference.  Your few dollars a week MATTER!  Here is a story of what GFA has been doing and what YOU have been a part of:

“You cannot bring this foreign religion and corrupt the minds of our people,” screamed the angry villagers.  “If you don’t stop, we’ll kill you.”

Prabhulal, a Gospel for Asia native missionary, received this dire threat when he first started his church-planting work in rural Rajasthan, India. And as often happens to our native missionaries, things didn’t exactly improve when the first villagers received Christ as their Savior.  Thy were hated, branded as low castes and treated as dirt.

The believers wee not even allowed to draw water from the public well.  This was an enormous hardship for the Christians, especially the women, during the hot summer months.  They had to walk long distances to get water and carry the heavy pots home on their heads.

In spite of the animosity and opposition, however, their number grew.  Some 75 to 80 people gathered for worship each Sunday, and sometimes there was not even enough room for everyone inside the building.

Then, last October, God rewarded the faithfulness of these dear brothers and sisters through one of our GFA friends who sponsored the drilling of a Jesus Well in their village.

Imagine the joy of the Christians when they received their own well as a gift from the Lord and from the Body of Christ!  And just try to picture the amazement of their “enemies” when the believers invited them to draw water freely from the Jesus Well!

Within a month, the hostile attitude of the villagers began to change.  They became friendlier and started to interact with the believers as they drew water for themselves and their cattle.  Most of all, the Jesus Well!

Within a month, the hostile attitude of the villagers began to change.  They became friendlier and started to interact with the believers as they drew water for themselves and their cattle.  Most of all, the Jesus Well opened the door for Prabhulal and the other believers to build relationships and share the Gospel with those who formerly refused to listen.

You see, each Jesus Well has an inscription that encourages those who draw water to ask our missionaries for an explanation.  The inscription reads:

Jesus Christ says: “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst” (John 4:13-14).

Thanks for your generosity.  Thanks for your giving.  Thanks for what you are doing to help others.  FOR MORE INFO ABOUT GOSPEL FOR ASIA, GO TO WWW.GFA.ORG.

What is Beautiful day?  I am glad you asked,

First, Beautiful Day is about serving our city through creative, innovative, and heart felt ways that are both practical and resourceful for the needs of those in our community.

Second, it is for each church to reestablish itself as an influential hub within its particular community.  Carwash

Third, is for the church to “pay-it-forward” and serve and assist other churches  joining the network with resources, creative ideas, and encouragement.

Fourth, is for community at large to see that unity, creativity, and compassion can come from churches of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds.

Our Beautiful Day project is November 18th, 2006.  from 8:00AM-1:00PM for Students Grades 9-12 · Cost=$10.  Beautiful Day is an opportunity to “jump-start” bridge building by serving the immediate needs in our community through directed compassion.   We will be doing a project for a local foster home by doing an "Extreme Makeover" on their backyard and by getting to know some of the residents through a baking project.  This is a EXCELLENT way to earn community SERVICE, to be a SERVANT and to SERVE.

View Article  MITS REPORT
Here is a report from Charles and Darlene Coulston, the missionaries we support in Kenya.  This is what YOU are supporting when you give some of your allowance or paycheck in the basket in class in Sunday.  This is what you help when you buy a Zone T-Shirt or Sweatshirt.

How special is it to have new clothes?  Well, if you've only had clothes that used to belong to someone else first, it's pretty special!   Charles and I asked friends in the USA to buy sets of new clothes for our students.  I had measured the kids, but had no sizes.  Friends did such a good job.  We came back with lots of brand-new clothes.  We handed them out at chapel and the kids were over-joyed.
Then tonight we had a "family talent show" and "fashion show" put on by the students.  In between singing or skits, there would be a group of girls and a group of boys who would march out of the bathroom into the courtyard and model.  OK, they've never seen a fashion show, but they do know how to show off new clothes!  And seriously, all the clothes fit!  Everyone clapped for each person, and yelled -- all that teen stuff.
See how great Riziki looks in her new clothes.  By the way, she is starting school at Revlon Institute in January -- she'll have a great career in hairdressing.
I have childhood memories of starting school  in September with stiff, new clothes.  And tonight, these kids who used to be on the streets in rags have a memory of stiff, new clothes.  Wow!  God and his people together caring and providing.  Thanks to all of you that help in so many different ways.  I'll write later about something I just found out today about how far  a little food goes -- it'll make your eyes "sweat".

Peace and joy,
Charles and Darlene Coulston

View Article  "Identity Theft" Sanctuary TOMORROW WEDNESDAY
EVERYONE COME TO THE NEXT SANCTUARY
THIS Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 · 7:00-8:30PM
EVERYONE Grade 6-12 · Birch Room

Our next Sanctuary is "Identity Theft"  We are going to ask the questions, "Who are we in Christ?"  This is going to be a time we look at those things that try to take away our true identity in Christ.  Sanctuary is a time of Serious, Hard-Core Worship.  It is a time to be together with others who are dialed in to God and want to grow in their faith.  So make plans to be there because you will not want to miss out  Don't forget to bring your Bible and a heart ready for worship.
