Junior Highers, have a great night OUT as you play games, hang out, eat snacks and make friends! This is going to be an night of building friendships and having FUN, FUN, FUN! Plus it beats staying home and watching boring old TV. You do not want to miss out on this night!!!
I know you are probably tired of hearing about it, but this is the LAST post about my Doctorate...promise. In case you were wondering, it is absolutely, positively, bonafided official. The piece of paper did show up. I am really a doctor. I still can't believe it. That paper says it...proves it even. But I still don't buy it. Nevertheless, if you don't beleive it, I have a piece of paper that proves it.
Anyways, thank you all for all of your prayers on my behalf to finish this degree. Thank you for all your encouragement. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to finish this. The Bible says, "To those much has been given, much will be required." I am well aware of my responsibility and stewardship of this education. I know that it will serve my calling to minsitry well and I pray that I will serve those God calls me well because of this education.
“I want to bring Senderista terrorists to
Christ!” The young Bible student’s eyesburned with his desire. His
city, Lima, Peru, had swelled to seven million as people fled from the
countryside because the Senderistas were murdering
somany.
“I do not want to
flee. I want to attack with the Gospel!” he exclaimed.
God answered the prayers of this Jesus
Freak.
One day, as
Francisco was walking past the national palace, a car sped by. A mortar
launched a bomb from the car which exploded in the palace. Then the car
vanished.
Immediately,
Peruvian police swarmed throughout the area. Francisco was arrested and
taken to the maximum security prison. He was locked up on the fourth
floor, in an area set aside exclusively for holding the Senderistas.
Five hundred men and women—all terrorists—were imprisoned in this
area.
Francisco wasted no
time grieving over his circumstances. He was prepared. He had
diligently studied how to present the Gospel to Communist
revolutionaries. In agentle way, he began preaching to the terrorists,
sharing the love of God.
A
pretty woman named Maria listened carefully. She was a 24-year-old
student from San Marcos University in Lima. One of Maria’s tasks with
the Senderistas had been to take her pistol and shoot the wounded
victims through their skull to guarantee their death.
“Could God possibly love and forgive me?”
she wondered. When Maria prayed a sinner’sprayer with Francisco, she
found out He definitely could—and that He did!
A year passed while Francisco waited for
his trial. During that time, he brought over sixty terrorists to Jesus!
As the love of God penetrated hardened hearts, terrorists became
children of God.
There is
now a church in this prison, filled with new believers brought to Jesus
Christ through the faithfulness of Francisco.
Francisco’s prayer
was answered in an unusual way—but what safer place could there be to
minister to terrorists than in jail? Francisco was quick to recognize
that God had changed evil to good: Heused Francisco’s wrongful
imprisonment to give him the desire of his heart. Then God
blessed his efforts, and many were brought into the kingdom of
God.
You
intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is
now being done, the saving of many lives.

This is a really cool video that a guy made. He took a picture of himself every day for six years documenting the changes he went through. I got me to thinking, "What changes have I been through over the past six years?"
I used to have hair, now I am bald. Other than that, my face is just older. I haven't gone through many cosmetic changes other than my hair. But I started to think, "How else have I changed?" Am I more patient that I was six years ago? More kind? More compassionate? Do I know more of the Bible? Do I udnerstand more things about God? Have I become less selfish and more giving? What have I learned? What has God with me over the past six years? How has God changed ME?
I challenge you to think back over the past six years and ask yourself "How are you different? What is God been doing with you the past six years?"
I had woken up like
every morning and got ready. We don’t
watch TV or listen to the radio in the morning so I had no clue anything had
happened when I got to church.I was
headed to a teacher devotional at CCS and Garry stopped me in the walkway to
let me know that terrorists had attacked New York
and Washington.I sat helplessly through the devotional time,
thinking about the safety of Amy and the girls who were home.As soon as it was over, I ran home and let
Amy know that we had been attacked and flipped on the TV to see those disturbing
images and video of the towers on fire and collapsing.I sat, as many others did, glued to the TV
coverage speechless, angry, helpless, crying, and scared.I knew that from that day forward that life
wasn’t going to be the same.
Do you remember the day that everything
changed?
Can you believe
that 9/11 was five years ago?It seems
like an eternity since our world has changed so much because of it.Metal detectors everywhere, taking your shoes
off to get on a plane, etc.Life is
really, really different because of those attacks. While there are memorials left and right
today, don’t forget to remember the lives that were lost on that fateful
day.For the heroes like the NYFD and
NYPD guys who gave their lives valiantly in their efforts to help those in
peril.Remember the innocent victims who
were only doing their jobs when the towers fell.Actually, all of the lives lost that day in
the towers, on United flight 83, and in the Pentagon were all innocent victims,
except for the 18 terrorists who made it all happen.
Do you remember the day that everything
changed?
Remember that ONE
THING does not change.Hebrews reminds
us that, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and
today and forever.” (Heb 13:8)Even though our way of life may change, Jesus
never does.Even though life may become
difficult, remember Jesus and His promises never change. He is dependable, reliable, trustworthy.Bottom line is that you can TRUST Jesus. When everything else around you may seem to
fail, your friends, your security, your family, your school, you can still
depend on Jesus.24 hours a day 7 days a
week.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the
name of the LORD our God.”
