I don't know if you watch the new show, "Heroes." It is about a bunch of individuals spread around the world who are trying to make a difference in the world. They all have special powers. Powers like being able to read minds, being able to fly, being able to heal themselves. It is a pretty cools show. Let me tell you about some of my heroes. My heroes are the men and women who are giving of themselves to help our teens. Our volunteers. Them men and women who give of their Sunday mornings, Saturday nights, and other times to teach, lead small groups, chaperone, etc. These people are my heroes. They inspire me to do better. The encourage me that what I am doing matters. Their love for you helps me to love you more.
There is a group of ten volunteers that are going to a training this Saturday to learn how to better help you guys in student ministry. They are committed to spending some of their Saturday learning how to better minister to your needs. How great is that? This is how much your volunteers love and care for you. . . that they would take over half of their day off to get some skills and training that can help you!
So this Sunday, when you see some of your volunteers, say, "Thank You!" to them. They are my heroes.
